How to use it

  1. Choose the UDF file

Drag the file into the box or tap to select it. UDF files that WhatsApp has renamed to .zip are accepted too.

  2. Convert to PDF

The document is laid out into pages on your device and written as a PDF. You can check the pages in the preview.

  3. Download, print or share

The PDF downloads under the same name (decision.udf becomes decision.pdf). On a phone you can share it straight to WhatsApp or e-mail.

Why convert a UDF to PDF?

A UDF file opens only in the UYAP Document Editor. When you want to send a document to a client, a colleague, an accountant or a relative, the other person almost certainly does not have it. A PDF opens on every phone, every computer and in every e-mail app. It is also the practical format for printing, archiving, attaching to a report or quoting part of a decision.

This tool reads the text, formatting, tables and images inside the UDF, lays the pages out following the editor's layout rules, and writes the result as a PDF. It does not take a screenshot and paste it into a PDF, so the file is both small and sharp.

What is preserved in the PDF

In a legal document a layout shift can change the meaning, so the following are rebuilt from the settings stored in the UDF:

  • Paper size, orientation and margins from the page setup of the UDF.
  • Fonts and sizes. Where the UDF uses Times New Roman, Arial, Courier New and similar fonts, open-licensed substitutes with the same letter widths are embedded.
  • Turkish characters: ç, ğ, ı, İ, ö, ş, ü and the circumflex letters.
  • Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, coloured and highlighted text.
  • Alignment, indents, line spacing, paragraph spacing and tab stops.
  • Numbered and bulleted lists.
  • Tables, including horizontally merged cells, and table borders.
  • Images in the document and a page background used as a letterhead.
  • Header, footer and page numbers.

Known limitations

To be honest, the output is not pixel-for-pixel identical for every document. The embedded fonts match the originals in letter width, but the drawing details differ. Line and page breaks are calculated following the editor's rules, yet in some documents a line may move to the next page. If something cannot be carried over, such as an unrecognised element or a character missing from the font, the tool lists it as a warning on the result screen. For important documents, compare the page count and the position of the signature block with the original.

Why selectable text matters

Some tools draw the UDF on screen and put a picture of it into the PDF. In such a file you cannot search, copy or have the text read aloud, and the file is larger. In the PDF produced here, the letters are real text: you can press Ctrl+F to find a case number, copy a paragraph into a letter or translation tool, and print a sharp page. Because the fonts are embedded in the PDF, it does not matter which fonts are installed on the recipient's computer.

What happens to the e-signature?

Most decisions downloaded from UYAP are e-signed. The signature sits in a separate part of the UDF file and covers only that UDF. When you convert to PDF the content is carried over, but the signature is not, and it cannot be, because the signature does not cover a new file. Treat the PDF as a visual copy. For an official procedure or as evidence, the original is the signed UDF. If the document has a UYAP document verification code, you can use the setting "Print the UYAP verification code at the bottom of the page" to add it to each page, so a recipient can check the original through UYAP's own verification service.

On a phone, on a Mac, or for many files

The steps are the same on a phone: save the file from WhatsApp or your e-mail to your device first, then choose it here. On a Mac, where the UYAP Document Editor can give Java and printing trouble, converting the UDF to PDF and printing from Preview is often the shortest route. If you have many files, select them all: they are converted one after another and can be downloaded together as a single ZIP.

If a file will not open or the tool says it is not a UDF, see Open a UDF file, which explains what the tool can recognise, or read What is a UDF file?.

You do not have to take our word for it

Once the page has loaded, switch off your internet connection or turn on airplane mode, then convert your file: it still works, because everything happens inside your browser. On a computer you can also press F12 and open the Network tab to see for yourself that your file is not sent anywhere.

Once a page has fully loaded you can switch off your internet connection; opening UDF files and converting UDF to PDF, Word and images keeps working. Less frequently used modules, such as reading PDFs, converting Word/ODT/RTF to UDF, and decoding TIFF and iPhone (HEIC) photos, are downloaded once on first use and then work offline as well.

Frequently asked questions

Is converting UDF to PDF free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no membership and no advertising, and we set no limit on the number of files. The only limit is your device's memory.

How do I convert a UDF to PDF without installing software?

Drop the UDF file into the box on this page, leave PDF selected, convert and download. You do not need the UYAP Document Editor, Java or any other program; the work is done in your browser.

Are Turkish characters and the page layout preserved?

Fonts that contain the Turkish letters are embedded in the PDF, so ş, ğ, ı and İ display correctly. Margins, tables, headers, footers and page numbers are taken from the settings in the UDF. In some documents a line or page break may differ slightly from the editor, so check important documents.

Can I convert several UDF files at once?

Yes, select as many files as you like. They are converted in turn, and you can download the results as one ZIP archive.

Does the e-signature stay valid in the PDF?

No. The PDF is a copy and carries no e-signature. The original is the signed UDF; for official use, rely on it or on the output that can be verified through UYAP document verification.

Can I do this on an iPhone or Android phone?

Yes. Open this page in Safari or Chrome, choose the file and convert it. On an iPhone the PDF is saved to the Files app, and the Share button can send it straight to WhatsApp or Mail.

Can iLovePDF, Smallpdf or Adobe Acrobat open a UDF file?

As far as we know, general PDF tools do not support the UDF format, so they cannot open it. Convert it to PDF here first, then use those tools on the PDF.

Is the text in the PDF selectable and searchable?

Yes. The text is written as real text, not as an image, so you can search it, copy it and read it with a screen reader.
